Horse Riding
The region’s many bridleways, tracks and quiet roads are perfect
for discovering on horseback and at its heart the Pennine Bridleway
National Trail, a 350-mile route, provides spectacular panoramic
views.
The Mary Townley Loop is a 47-mile circular section of this
trail through the South Pennines that straddles the Lancashire –
Yorkshire border.
The first phase of the North Lancashire Bridleway is now open,
which starts at Denny Beck to the east of Lancaster and runs for
47km.
In Cheshire, riders can undertake the 35-mile Bishop Bennet Way,
which takes in bridleways, byways and minor roads, and there are
major signposted routes being developed throughout Delamere
Forest.
