Grizedale

Grizedale
Grizedale Forest Park is right in the heart of the Lakes between Windermere and Coniston Water.

It offers everything for the perfect day out, including a tearoom, sculpture trail, wonderful walks, a high-wire assault course and a strenuous mountain bike trail.

There are 8 waymarked walking routes along paths, forests roads and tracks to choose from, ranging in length from 1 mile to 9.5 miles. These offer superb views of Coniston Water, Windermere and Grizedale valley itself, whilst the Park’s highest point, Carron Crag (317 metres), offers panoramic views of the central Lake District fells.

5 waymarked routes are available for cyclists, ranging in length from 4.5 miles to the 14-mile Silurian Way and bikes can be hired from the visitor centre. For those wanting more of a challenge, the North Face Mountain Bike Trail is a 10-mile track consisting of 9 new sections of singletrack trail on the west side of the forest.

If all that wasn’t enough Grizedale also contains Go Ape! – an aerial assault course of extreme rope bridges, Tarzan swings and zip slides in the forest canopy up to 60 feet above the ground. It is open between March and October, at weekends only in November and places must be booked in advance.
