Dee Cliffs

Dee Cliffs
The Dee Cliffs are the best-known example of clay cliff and bank habitats on Merseyside.

Situated about 2 miles to the west of Heswall on the Wirral, immediately facing the Dee Estuary, the cliffs rise 15 metres above sea level and are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna.

A number of lime-loving plants can be found on the clay cliffs, including some at the northern limits of their British distribution, such as Yellow Wort.

Other species to be found include Common Centaury, Bristly Oxtongue, Autumn Hawkbit, Bloody Cransebill and Common Restharrow.
