Latrigg
Despite being one of the smallest fells in the Lake District, it is
a hugely popular climb due to its location overlooking Keswick.
Latrigg is the least mountainous of the Skiddaw family of fells,
with partially wooded slopes and a summit that is almost entirely
devoid of rock.
It is commonly referred to as one of the ‘best view for least
effort’ fells in the Lakes as it can be achieved in a ten-minute
stroll from the car park at the end of Gale Road. This car park is
also often used as a starting point for the ascent of Skiddaw so
does get very busy.
Beautiful views over Derwent Water down the valley of Borrowdale
are your reward when you reach the summit and are literally some of
the best views in the whole of England.
The most common ascent is from Keswick, along the disused
railway line, although it can also be reached using Threlkeld as a
starting point.
