Haigh Hall

Parks in the Northwest
Haigh Hall, once the home of Earls and Lords, is surrounded by 250 acres of park and woodland, providing magnificent views across the Douglas Valley to the Welsh Hills.

Three guided walking nature trails are available to follow, ranging from an easy 1.5km trail (suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs), to a moderate 3km route (on uneven paths) and a hard 9km walk (uneven routes with steep hills).

Walled gardens, formerly used for growing fruit and vegetables for the hall, are a pleasant place to relax all year round, picturesque woodlands provide a habitat for many trees, plants, birds, squirrels and other wildlife, whilst a large playground caters for children of all ages.

A model village, railway, golf course, craft gallery and café complete the range of facilities to be found at Haigh.

The wardens also organise action adventure days for groups, where activities such as guided walks, orienteering, rock climbing and archery can be undertaken.
