Cumbrian mountains

Cumbria conjures immediate images of mountains and lakes but there is so much more on offer.

The area around Morecambe Bay is famous for its low limestone hills, whilst the east of the county contains the rounded grassy Howgill Fells and the Pennines.

The western area has 93 miles of unique coastline, which you can walk on foot as part of the 124-mile Cumbria Coastal Way. It is also home to the only marina in the North West to have a Blue Flag award whilst the Solway Coast is a designated AONB where cod, scallops, mackerel and prawns are caught daily and huge flocks of waders gather in winter.

In spring the floors of the Duddon Valley and south Lakeland woods are carpeted with wildflowers, including Bluebells and Wild Daffodils.
